FAQs
🔥 Absolutely Not.
The First In – SUPPORT glove is strictly an All-Purpose Utility Glove designed for dexterity and toughness during non-emergency tasks, such as station work, rope handling practice, apparatus maintenance, and training drills.
It is critical that you understand the following:
- NOT STRUCTURAL FIRE GLOVES: The SUPPORT model is NOT certified to any NFPA standards (including NFPA 1971, 1977, or 1951) and is NOT designed for personal protection against fire, flame, heat, steam, or high-temperature environments.
- THERMAL HAZARD: Materials used in the glove, including Nylon and Thermo Plastic Rubber (TPR), are susceptible to melting, shrinking, and deforming at temperatures lower than those commonly encountered on a fireground. Melting plastic components can adhere to the skin and cause severe burns.
- ZERO HAZMAT PROTECTION: This glove provides NO barrier protection against chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, or other hazardous materials.
The SUPPORT glove must NEVER be used in any environment where thermal exposure, open flame, structural fire hazards, or hazardous materials are present. Always use certified NFPA-compliant PPE for those environments.
The SUPPORT gloves are designed for professional use and are currently undergoing independent laboratory testing to the ANSI/ISEA 105 standard.
This initial production run is not yet marketed as ANSI/ISEA 105-Tested. Test results will be published once completed.
Most orders are processed and shipped within 1–2 business days. Once your order has left our facility in Toronto, you will receive a tracking number to monitor your delivery.
- Carrier Liability: While we strive for timely delivery, FIRST IN GLOVES INC. is not responsible for delays caused by shipping carriers (such as Purolator, UPS, or Canada Post), customs processing, or extreme weather events. Once the package is in the carrier's possession, the delivery timeline is subject to their operational capacity.
We strive to make our checkout process as inclusive as possible by calculating standard shipping and applicable taxes at the time of purchase. However, due to the suspension of U.S. de minimis exemptions, all shipments from Canada to the USA are now subject to formal customs entry.
The Reality: While we attempt to cover predictable costs at checkout, FIRST IN GLOVES INC. is not responsible for any additional duties, brokerage fees, or local state taxes assessed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection or the delivery carrier upon arrival.
Customer Responsibility: These charges are determined by U.S. federal and state authorities and are beyond our control. Any such fees must be paid by the recipient to the carrier before the package is released for final delivery.
DO NOT use extraction washers, commercial dryers, or high-heat methods.
The First In – SUPPORT glove should be cleaned using a gentle hand-washing method. Improper cleaning will cause the goat leather to dry out, shrink, and become stiff, destroying the dexterity you purchased the glove for.
The Recommended Cleaning Method
- Preparation: Put the gloves on your hands.
- Wash: Use cold or lukewarm tap water and a small amount of mild liquid detergent (like a gentle laundry soap or dish soap).
- Scrub: While wearing the gloves, gently rub the soiled areas together, paying close attention to the palms and fingertips. Do not scrub harshly, as this can wear down the leather.
- Rinse: Rinse the gloves thoroughly with cold, clean water until all soap residue is removed.
- Remove Excess Water: Do not wring the gloves. Gently squeeze the water out, starting from the fingers and moving toward the cuff.
The Critical Drying Method
- Air Dry ONLY: Hang the gloves to air dry, ideally in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight or any heat source.
- NEVER Use Heat: Do not place the gloves near heaters, engine manifolds, forced air dryers, or commercial dryers. The high heat will irreversibly damage the leather, cause shrinkage, and melt the nylon and TPR components.
- Re-shaping: As the gloves begin to dry (when they are still slightly damp), put them on and make a fist several times to help reshape the leather and restore flexibility. This prevents stiffness.

SUPPORT gloves have not yet been independently tested under California Proposition 65.
As a precaution, we include the appropriate Prop 65 warning on packaging for shipments to California. Independent testing is planned as part of future production runs.
California law requires warnings on certain consumer products unless testing confirms the absence of listed substances. Many leather and textile products include this warning as a precaution.
